Apart from Gold and other precious metals the carbon itself has a value and can be returned to operating circuits once cleaned and sized. The reintroduction of the recovered carbon ultimately results in lower consumable costs (carbon) and less gold losses. There can be as much as one ounce of gold per tonne of new carbon introduced that cannot be recovered.
